Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful

November 24, 2012 by tchistorygal

This week’s photo challenge by WordPress, Thankful , conjures up pictures of food, family, friends, and material objects.  Beyond our immediate circle of influence and interaction, our country, and the peace, liberty, and freedom it offers comprise some of the more esoteric gifts that make us thankful.  Our lives are improved by people that serve us and do things that we can’t do for ourselves, so we are thankful for:   business people, teachers, doctors, our service men and women, inventors, […]

Internet Purgatory Solutions

November 14, 2012 by tchistorygal

I’m beginning to feel jinxed as I struggle technologically to blog.  First I had my problems just learning the ropes, then I started jumping unannounced and uninvited into people’s spam boxes.  That all came to a head when WordPress shut me down for pasting in a spam comment with the little gravitar.  NOW I’m voraciously eating up internet gigabytes like there’s no tomorrow, and maybe I’ve sailed to the end of the world, and fallen off the internet safety web. So I […]

Trackbacks, Pings

November 6, 2012 by tchistorygal

… [Trackback]… [...] There you will find 77615 more Infos: tchistorygal.wordpress.com/2012/10/08/spam-and-stats/ [...]… Not Spam | Delete Permanently “A trackback is an acknowledgment. This acknowledgment is sent via a network signal (ping) from the originating site to the receiving site. The receptor often publishes a link back to the originator indicating its worthiness. Trackback requires both sites to be trackback-enabled in order to establish this communication.Trackbacks are used primarily to facilitate communication between blogs; if a blogger writes a new entry commenting on, or […]

Questions I Have About Doing WP

October 2, 2012 by tchistorygal

I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to problem solve using the tools that companies – open source or otherwise – give their customers to take care of their products.  My problems never fit within the normal range – ask Steve Woods,a tech expert at TCOE, who cringes to see me coming.  (I’m taking his Photoshop class tonight – get ready Steve.) So I am still trying to check out why I’m being so spammy, because I responded to […]

The Un-Spam Button

October 1, 2012 by tchistorygal

I am researching why my comments appearing in some of your spam folders.  I went on wordpress.org and got a user name and password to begin my search.  As I was reading another user’s words of woe, I read that Akismet also has a support site.  It was more helpful.  This is part of what Akismet support said. “A comment from a friend appeared in my spam folder. Why, and what should I do? Use the un-spam button in […]

Liebster Paid Forward

September 20, 2012 by tchistorygal

The amazing Renee has nominated me for the Liebster Award.  I say amazing because of her age and all the many accomplishments she has done in such a short time.  So thanks Renee.  Be sure to take a look at her site.  In my last article about it I followed it backwards for a while several generations, found a fork, and then the fork came back together.  I found out there are many icons for this award, so I’m going […]

Practicing Photoshop

September 19, 2012 by tchistorygal

Steve Woods from Tulare County Office of Education runs a tight Photoshop ship, and he navigated us through some difficult waters.  I practiced quite a bit today, with mixed success.  Steve says I’m persistent, and that is a prominent character quality of mine.  He didn’t say I was artistic, brilliant, creative…just persistent.  I’ll take it as a +Here is the before picture of a lavender quilt that Carmen made for me.This is after I adjusted the color.  I used Adobe […]

Blog Thoughts

September 2, 2012 by tchistorygal

Most of the blogs I run across include photography.  Blogging documents trips, family or friends’ gatherings, spotlights interests, conveys information, or displays creative talent. I find that I compete with myself daily as a blogger.   I check my statistics multiple times  hoping that I have more visitors today than yesterday or my highest day.  Why am I driven to do this, I wonder? The statistics gods seem to know that people like me click their little line graph […]

Inspiring Blog Award

June 29, 2012 by tchistorygal

Thank you so much Seasonsgirl for nominating me for the Inspiring Blog Award.    I didn’t know there were so many awards out there, nor did I ever expect being nominated for one.  I am so honored that this blogging experiment of mine could be considered inspiring – funny in places, maybe, informative – hopefully, a great connecting experience for me – definitely.  So thank you from the bottom of my inspired heart. You can see from the pictures below […]
