V had a brainstorm the evening of December 28th, and asked, “How would you like to take a day trip to the coast tomorrow?” He didn’t have to ask me twice. My friend Margaret’s birthday was Dec. 28th, and we hadn’t given them their Christmas present or her birthday present.  So we were up at 5:00 a.m., and by 7:00 we were on the road.
