What Are You Reading?

April 11, 2013 by tchistorygal

“What did you read today?” asks my book-reviewing blogging friend, Marcia.  That question made me examine my reading habits. What I really love is drivel. Shock!  I thought I was an intellectual!  Drivel is different from trivia, the plural of trivium.  Drivel is “silly nonsense”, while trivia (pl) are a step above that, “inconsequential or insignificant matters.”  Actually I love both.  And I can spend enormous amounts of time organizing myself so that I can enjoy my drivel to the […]

Piggles Again

February 17, 2013 by tchistorygal

Yesterday I got a comment from TOM, the other Marcia, and she told me I needed a tablet and a stylus to draw.  Since she is an artist, and I definitely am not, I decided to try it.  V dropped me off at Best Buy, and they told me that I needed a Bamboo tablet.  They were only $99.00, and I decided that would be worth the amount of entertainment I would get from it.  So it came home with […]

Should I Celebrate Now, Or Wait Until 20,000?

January 17, 2013 by tchistorygal

Ah forget it, I’ll celebrate now.  I went over 18,000 views today!!! Would you celebrate with me? Can’t you see I’m in kind of a bind? Yes, I see that.  I’ll call for some help.  HELP!!! HELP!! Can’t you see, I’m tired?  Wait till you get to 20,000.  You just toot your own horn too often anyway!  Go away! Sure, sure.  Bye. Zzzzzz Uh sure, I’ll stop by.  What time are you celebrating? Soon as I send out the post! […]

2012 in review

December 31, 2012 by tchistorygal

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog. Dear Friends, This blog was started as an experiment.  Without you my experiment would have fizzled.  But as you can see, it lights up the night sky exploding with my joy to you for making it so much fun.  I had a goofy contest for the commenters with the most comments on my blog, which came about as a result of an ongoing comment chat in my […]

Wonderful Team Member Award

December 29, 2012 by tchistorygal

As I happily make this post, I complete my long-overdue responses to the wonderful folks that nominated me for awards.   J.G. Burdette, one of my favorite writers, nominated me for the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award.  I DO deserve this award, particularly from her, because I love to read her articles.  They are more than posts.  She writes beautifully narrated biographies which always include snip-its of little known facts on historic folks.  (Yes, you might guess that I like […]

Comment Competition Ends Midnight Dec. 31, 2012 PST

December 19, 2012 by tchistorygal

Autty Jade has taken up the challenge.  For months she has led the pack for numbers of comments – and numbers of words, too.  Today, her record was broken by Ralph with a total of 55 comments to Autty’s 50.  Autty has vowed that Ralph is not going to beat her, so watch out Ralph!  This girl’s keyboarding fingers move faster than Superman’s when he has a pressing deadline at the Daily Planet, AND Lois Lane is in trouble..  Poor, […]

Why Fly Through Cyberspace With a Vanity Blog?

December 11, 2012 by tchistorygal

There are basically only two things one can do with a blog, read them or write them, but most bloggers do both.  I just learned that what we have here a vanity blog.  It’s called vanity because Marsha Lee is not performing a service or selling a product for profit.  I’m just writing for the pleasure of it.  Oooh, I’m SO vain.  I probably have a blog all about me.  I’m SO vain.  I probably have a blog all about […]

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

December 1, 2012 by tchistorygal

As I reflect on my blogging experiment this first day of December, I realize that it has gone from experiment to addictive hobby.  I am thankful to all of you for taking the time to visit my streaming thoughts started in April, 2012.  While not breaking any records, this blog has attracted over 11,000 views, and 2,000 comments.  I was awfully lonely the first couple of months, but on November 29th the site reached a high of 196 views.  THANK […]

Reality Award

November 28, 2012 by tchistorygal

Over a month ago The Blazing Trail honored me with the Reality Award.  I have to be real now.  I apologize for somehow overlooking this honor.  I love awards, so I have no good reason for neglecting this one!  Thank you Blazing Trail! Everyone who gives and receives awards takes the time to review people’s blogs and refer their own readers to new blogs.  It is a great way to promote blog readership and appreciation.  It is the breeding ground for making […]

Are You There Blog? It’s Me, Writer.

November 24, 2012 by tchistorygal

Kristen Lamb, author of Are You There Blog?  It’s Me, Writer., writes non-fiction in a folksy, easy to understand style.  Read like good fiction, the pages of this how-to book practically turned themselves.  Writers and bloggers can immediately apply her tips to improve their blog, Facebook and Twitter platforms. In spite of the fact Are You There Blog?  It’s me, Writer. was easy to read I found myself highlighting, taking tons of notes, and rereading to make sure I didn’t miss […]

The Hilarity of Real Spam

October 17, 2012 by tchistorygal

Both Sex Gratis and Tattoo Age need to work a little on their persuasive writing skills. as well as their language usage.  Maybe that is why the Common Core standards are pushing teachers to teach persuasive/argument writing grades K-12.  These folks are so pathetic they are fodder for the funnies. “I think this is a powerfull site with much interesting blogposts about this stuff. And i just wanna say thnx for this. I’ll subscribe to your website to see if […]

Blog and Retirement Management

October 5, 2012 by tchistorygal

Books are in place.  I’m open for business.“What business?” you wonder, then you advise.  ”Well, Marsha, now that you are retired and blogging you ought to blog about things that are everyday here, and other people have probably never seen.”  Great idea – I wrote the first article like that about picking table grapes  - as I came up on it.  It’s soon to be a best-selling book, I’m sure.  So far there are no comments.  I drove by a field […]

A Lovely Blog Award

September 10, 2012 by tchistorygal

Thank you Help Me Rhonda http://help-me-rhonda.com/ for nominating me for this award.  Rhonda called this a Piece of Cake Award.  She must have seen that little tiny piece of chocolate cake I ate in the privacy of my own home after my husband went to work and wouldn’t notice.  So now I had my cake, and I’m getting to eat it too, and share with five of my favorites. Here are the Piece of Cake Version rules – thank you Rhonda […]

Just Finish It

June 23, 2012 by tchistorygal

Such the Like motivated her with her blog post about what books she is reading.  I, too, love to read, at least I think I do.  If it’s not fiction I love to start reading. That’s why I read so little fiction.  I can’t stop reading fiction until the end of the book – even if I keep my scratchy eyes open until 2:00 a.m.  Unfortunately, there is so much else on my list to read, so I feel guilty reading […]
