Good bass, catfish , and trout fishing in Bravo Lake

Bravo Lake Is All Filled Up

April 9, 2013 by tchistorygal

Sally Pace and I walked around Bravo Lake for the first time together on February 12.  It was so empty.  I darkened it to show you how sad it looked, and wrote my name in the sky so you’d know the sky wasn’t really that color.  The amount of water is real. Water managers turned on the faucets and filled Bravo Lake over the weekend.  Today I picked up trash along side of five middle school students, and their teacher, […]

SFW Sac Go Cart Racing052

Marsha Lee Not So Famous Go Cart Racer in Greater Sacramento

January 22, 2013 by tchistorygal

Yes, I did.  I came in 98.45% of over 2,000,000 go-cart racers in speed!!!  I have the paperwork to prove it!!!  OK J was 99.96%.  Here’s the big difference.  He came in #1 in our heat, and I came in …… Here’s a few shots from the sidelines of the track.  J raced three times.  He’s wearing brown pants, and was #1 all three times.  He even got better each time. The flags were very important.  Most people know that […]

Book Review: The Elephant Whisperer by Lawrence Anthony

Book Review: The Elephant Whisperer by Lawrence Anthony

January 16, 2013 by tchistorygal

This book, The Elephant Whisperer, kept me on the edge of my seat the entire two days it took me to finish it. Considering that I was reading it on my cell phone the whole time because my Kindle needs to be emptied before I can load any more books, it’s amazing that I even stuck it out.   Out of forty-two chapters, there wasn’t a single dud.  I read it because I was intrigued when someone  wrote that when […]

More Running P

January 15, 2013 by tchistorygal

Mike Pace was a history teacher.  Sally was a high school counselor that raised more scholarships than almost anyone in the nation – per student.  She was one of three in the NATION!!!!  That’s how we all met.  They retired a few years ago, and they both keep more than busy doing projects.  They have created Running P Ranch as a place for others to enjoy with them.  They host weddings, Kiwanis parties, and many other events.  Yesterday I posted […]

San Francisco with Mary

January 13, 2013 by tchistorygal

I love to eat.   I am not a foody, but Mary is. I love nice clothes.  I am not a shopper, but Mary is. I love to travel.  I don’t know places well. But Mary knows all these things. It’s relaxing to travel with friends like Mary because they hold in their hands all the knowledge they need as they negotiate the world – their cell phone accessed by yelp.  They know facts about everything.  They check me in […]

History Girls Rule San Diego Part 1

January 7, 2013 by tchistorygal

Maybe rule is not quite the right word.  Roam might be better.  Manny decided to go along.  He had never been to San Diego. We were both ready to get out of the Tule Fog. By the time we got on the way up over the Grapevine, the fog was almost all gone, and blue skies prevailed. The weather in San Diego amazed me – no rain.  It rains EVERY time I go there.  Ok it rained today when we […]

Weekly Photo Challenge: Surprise

December 27, 2012 by tchistorygal

I enjoy photo challenges because they always make me think.  I don’t usually think about themes.  I was surprised this morning when I was reading Russel Ray’s site that anyone could come up with enough pictures of chimneys, let alone the idea that the chimneys were Santa-unfriendly chimneys, and therefore the cause of undelivered gifts in Southern California.  I am surprised at the creative thinking of others. Being basically self-centered my first thought was, when have I ever been surprised. […]

Kids at Avila Barn

December 2, 2012 by tchistorygal

Avila Barn used to be just a summer place to visit, but now it’s open all year long.  I’ve been practicing taking people pictures recently.  I wanted to test my skill with kids, and since I’m a little short of family members, I asked strangers if I could snap some shots of their children.  I was surprised that no one I asked minded having their kids’ pictures taken, even knowing that I would post them on the web. Evan is […]

Bob Jones Trail

November 28, 2012 by tchistorygal

Across the street cars packed into the tiny parking lot down the street from Bob Jones Trail.  Children, bikes, old people, skaters, dogs, young parents with baby strollers all piled out of their cars and crossed the street.  A quick stop at the doggie bag stop and their exercise routine starts. This trail has much to offer.  It starts right down from Avila Barn on Ontario Road, stops at a little shopping area with a restaurant /quick market, real estate […]

Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful

November 24, 2012 by tchistorygal

This week’s photo challenge by WordPress, Thankful , conjures up pictures of food, family, friends, and material objects.  Beyond our immediate circle of influence and interaction, our country, and the peace, liberty, and freedom it offers comprise some of the more esoteric gifts that make us thankful.  Our lives are improved by people that serve us and do things that we can’t do for ourselves, so we are thankful for:   business people, teachers, doctors, our service men and women, inventors, […]

Good friend surrounded by good art enveloped in a surrounding of peace

Sunday Post: Surroundings

November 14, 2012 by tchistorygal

This challenge seems particularly vague to me.  Everything surrounds everything.  Nothing exists in a vacuum except the dirt and dog hairs from my carpet.  We can choose to surround ourselves with wonderful music, (or noise), beauty, good weather. and pleasant people. Or we can be forced into uncomfortable surroundings out of our control, or we can accidentally fall into uncomfortable surroundings.  Surrounds also provide good fodder for complaining, as in my internet surroundings this past two weeks.  I think I’ll […]

What’s Happening …In The Foothills

November 8, 2012 by tchistorygal

I NEED your opinions!!! I am so excited.  When I voted on Tuesday I ran into my friends, Sally and Alice who used to work with me when I was teaching.  I love voting.  As we chatted afterwards, and Sally asked me if I wanted to contribute a spring photograph for the cover of the magazine published by Kiwanis Club.  You  all know I said YES! So now the problem comes of WHICH photograph of the tri-town area do we […]

Before I start this post I want to thank you all for coming to visit my site, reading all my posts, making wonderfully encouraging and engaging comments, and in general, addicting me to y’all.  This is my 200th post.  Today, I may go over 9,000 views.  Who knew when I started this adventure that even ONE person would want to read my thoughts.  I am so grateful. Secondly, I don’t want to get so caught up in my blogging that […]

Whalers Village Museum

November 2, 2012 by tchistorygal

What do you do for a week in Maui when you’ve been there before?  Several times.  Even in Hawaii I can’t resist a museum.  Last year we went to the Sugar Museum. Whalers Village Museum wasn’t listed on the top 10 things to do in Maui in our KBC planning calendar, but we really enjoyed this compact, top-notch museum. Fishing is a… discipline in the equality of men – for all men are equal before fish. –Herbert Hoover This next picture […]

I heard about this MONTHLY photo challenge on East of Malaga’s website.  Thanks EAST!  The difference between this and other photo challenges is that at the end of your post, you should introduce two links to any other blogs you have visited and, most importantly, that you have commented on, during the past month.  These links might be to someone who you are in regular contact with via your blog, a new blogger in need of some followers, or maybe aperson who inspires or motivates you […]

Weekly Photo Challenge: Silhouette

October 23, 2012 by tchistorygal

SILHOUETTE. The proper definition of a silhouette is “the outline of a body viewed as circumscribing a mass.”  http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2012/10/19/weekly-photo-challenge-silhouette/ Sometimes I accidentally produce pictures that are silhouettes, and these are some I loved.  I used the one of me all summer as my profile picture. I had a great time taking everyone’s pictures, and all of a sudden it struck me that if I stood on the other side of them I could get better photos!  Even with no facial expressions showing you can […]

Creating a BIG mess masterpiece

Weekly Photo Challenge: Big

October 12, 2012 by tchistorygal

This week’s WordPress challenge is BIG.  When I think of big, I usually think of an object – a big car, house, horse, dog, etc.  We went to a large arts festival in Visalia, California a couple of weeks ago.  Most of the festival was outside in the “big” heat.  I know it was over 100 that day.  We thought we would go inside where it was cooler.  Inside the arts and crafts area for kids it was even hotter. […]
